Randy Riley uses his bright mind and his movement skills to really save the day! He uses his ingenuity to create the equipment he needs to demonstrate his skills and save his town.

Think about the fitness skill components in this story: Agility (quickly change directions), Balance (control body and not fall over), Coordination (senses and body work together, hand-eye coordination, for example), Speed (quick and swift movement), Power (speed and strength together), Reaction Time (respond quickly to something you see, hear or feel).

  • Where can you find examples of these skills in the story?

  • How can you demonstrate each of these skills? Think like a ninja, a basketball player, a football player, a soccer player, a tennis player, a dancer, a swimmer, or a gymnast to name a few. Now, show your best moves.

Enjoy this bilingual story and perform 5 jumping jacks every time the author says "Butterfly" or "Mariposa". Then grab a towel or blanket to use as wings as you flutter, dance & fly to retell the story through song. Keep moving your wings to make them strong enough to travel over 60 miles a day like the butterflies!
