SMHS LIBRARY MISSION STATEMENT: The goal of the Stowe Middle High School Library is to provide a variety of physical and digital resources and instruction to empower all students to become technologically literate 21st century readers, researchers, and learners with the skills necessary to be successful throughout and beyond their academic careers, and to ensure that reading and research materials are made available to all patrons in an equitable way.
A NOTE ABOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF MATERIALS: Part of empowering students involves allowing them to make their own independent and thoughtful decisions about the books they choose. When available during the school day in the library, the librarian will be present to guide students toward materials that fit their interests, values, development, and reading ability, but curated materials for the range of grades 6-12 are accessible by all and there are no restrictions in place to exclude checkouts based on grade or age. Adult caregivers are encouraged to check in with their children and have conversations about specific reading expectations in the home.
