"The only thing you must absolutely KNOW by heart is the location of the library. The books that are there can provide everything else."
-Albert Einstein
*The library is a space for EVERYONE! Please be considerate at all times when using the space to make sure it stays productive and inviting for all SHS and SMS students and staff.
*Food and drink in the library space is allowed but is contingent on EVERYONE cleaning up after themselves and keeping the space tidy. Garbage and messes being left being may result in this privilege being lost for EVERYONE.
*Be mindful of classes taking place and other people using the space. Keep your voice at a minimum, use appropriate language, and be sure to use headphones for all audio.
*Out of fairness to others who would like to sit at a table for work, please do not move chairs or any other furniture without permission.
*Make sure to return any books or library items you borrow to their rightful place.
*Clean up any mess you make, push in your chair, and take all of your belongings with you when you leave.
*Any student may borrow up to 3 fiction books AND 3 non-fiction books at any time.
*The checkout period is one month (of days school takes place). Check the back of the book where the due date is stamped if you are unsure.
*Books can be returned to Mr. Meier at the circulation desk, dropped off in the book drop slot on the side of the circulation desk, or dropped in the Library Book Return bin outside of the middle school office.
*There are no fines for books that are not returned on time, but please be considerate of others who might want to borrow the book you have and return on or before the due date.
*Wired headphones are available for any student would would like to borrow them. Please make sure they are returned before the end of the block in which they were borrowed. They should not leave the building without permission.
*Apologies, but temporary Chromebooks and chargers are no longer available from the library.
It is the policy of the Stowe School District (SSD) to ensure that all students have a safe and supportive learning environment at all times [THIS INCLUDES THE LIBRARY]. Based on clear evidence by researchers and community feedback, SSD schools will maintain a 100% phone and personal electronic device-free environment from the start of the school day until the end of the school day.
See the official policy on the Lamoille South district website.
