"Judge those around you by the questions they ask less the answers they give."

Q: Where are the horror/romance/humor/sports/etc. books?
A: Fiction books are organized into sections by the following genres: fantasy, realistic, historical, sci-fi, mystery, and adventure. Specific themes are within those sections. Also, many books might fit into multiple genres but have been chosen to be placed somewhere specific for one reason or another. Use the search catalog, or visual search in Destiny, or physically browse the shelves and look for secondary genre labels on the spine.
Q: How long can I keep my book?
A: 30 school days from the day you borrowed it (not counting weekends or vacation days). Also, the due date will be stamped on the back inside cover).
Q: What should I do if I need to keep my book for longer?
A: If you notice your book is overdue or you receive a message letting you know a book is overdue and you still need it, just stop in the library with your book and Mr. Meier can renew it for another checkout period.
Q: Can I just email Mr. Meier to let him know I need to keep my book for longer?
A: Please stop by the library with the physical book. It is much easier to simply scan it PLUS, it is helpful for Mr. Meier to know that you still actually have the book and it hasn't been lost.
Q: How many books can I have at one time?
A: Typically three. However, if you have a real need to borrow additional books, just explain why and chances are it won't be a problem.
Q: What happens if I don't return a book on time?
A: On Monday mornings, overdue notices are automatically generated by Destiny and sent to student emails. You'll receive one if you have anything overdue.
Q: What happens if I lose a book?
A: To make a long story short, please don't. However, if you lose a book, you'll kindly be asked to pay for a replacement copy to be purchased if you are able.
Q: If there are no penalties for NOT returning books, why should I even bother worrying about returning it on time or even at all?
A: Firstly, books are property of Stowe Middle/High School. Secondly, returning books on time demonstrates positive responsibility. Lastly, it is only fair to those who might be waiting to borrow the same book. If there was a book that you wanted to borrow, surely you'd want to know when to expect it will be available, right?
Q: How do I find a specific book or a book about a certain topic?
A: You can search the library catalog (Destiny) using the search kiosk on the circulation desk, or you can open Destiny on your own device by clicking the link on Clever or the library website homepage.
