Mrs. Hockett

Hello 1st grade students and families!

My name is Robin Hockett. I student taught at Prairie View Elementary and have called PVE my home for 20 years. Most of my teaching has been with 1st graders. For a few years I was fortunate to have the opportunity to "loop" with my first graders and move up to 2nd grade with them.

I have lived in Lee's Summit all of my life and graduated from LSHS. I have always known I wanted to work with children. I had a home day care for 12 years while my boys were growing up. I wanted to instill the "life-long learning" to more children than I could at home. I received my Bachelors Degree in Education from Avila University. I have a Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Baker University.

Creating a classroom environment where my students know they are loved, respected and valued is of the utmost importance to me. When a child feels comfortable they will embrace learning! They will fail and they will succeed, all part of the learning process. In our class, we will celebrate success, no matter how big or small. We will celebrate our differences and work together as a team!

Children learn best when teachers and parents work together and I look forward to working with each of you this year!
