Frequently Asked Questions

Is remote learning an option for my student?

No. Our guiding principle states we firmly believe that the best educational experience is one that allows students to learn while in person.

If my student has an extended absence due to illness, how will they participate in learning?

During a student's absence from school, they will be able to access instructional resources that are provided by teachers through SeeSaw (Grades PreK-3) and Google Classroom (grades 4-12). Activities and/or instructional resources can be accessed through these online platforms.

Students will be given additional time to complete makeup work as outlined in the student handbooks. Students who have a need for device or internet access please contact your building principal.

High school and middle school students will be expected to contact their teachers via email and take an active role in their studies. Parents and students should look towards JMC for the most recent student grades. Teachers will update grades at least weekly.

Parents can sign up for email summaries for Google Classroom. Simply contact your child's teacher and request this. Once you are added, click the link before for more help navigating the Google Classroom platform. Please do not hesitate to contact the school with questions.

What supports is the district putting in place to address learning loss as a result of COVID-19?

Using Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds (ESSER), the school district has hired additional interventionist(s) who will be tasked with identifying and addressing learning loss as identified through multiple assessments (ISASP, MAPS, etc). These interventions will be targeted towards the middle and lower grades. Additionally, a credit recovery program was implemented at the high school level to help students recover credits they may have lost due to interruptions to their learning.

What should parents do if they have concerns about their students academic or behavioral progress?

Parents are encouraged to reach out to their child's classroom teacher to discuss their student's progress anytime they have a concern or would like an opportunity to problem-solve ways to support their child.
