If illegal activities like logging and mining, and insufficient protection for the Sierra Madre, persist, we will likely see not only progressively detrimental environmental effects, such as the severity of mildly climatic-phenomenon like typhoons, increasing floods, landslides, extended droughts, as well as extinction of many endemic species resulting in drastic loss of biodiversity.
