Email 3/10/22: Hello,
Curriculum: Dinosaur School! We worked on Stegosaurus activities to come up with solutions and associated feelings! Wally had a problem, he was trying to build a fort with sticks and it kept falling over. Ask your child what solutions we came up with at group, and what eventually worked for Wally. We problem solved and fixed Humpty Dumpty with bandaids, tape, and glue. We talked about and drew situations that we SHARED, WAITED AND TOOK TURNS, IGNORE, GET PARENT, TRADE, in which we drew as well as dictated oral language to written language. We made our CALM DOWN thermometer, and practiced "smelling a flower and blowing out a candle" and taking our three deep breaths. We are consistently working on Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Program and Cosmic Kids Yoga. We even had a few Dinosaur School song Dance parties! Art table had Watercolors, you should see those coming home. We also graduated to more difficult puzzles, challenging your child with puzzles will help reinforce those math concepts. We read The Gruffalo too!
Charlotte's Mom came today and read us Angry Octopus while we practiced some calm down techniques. Then we pretended to "sit still like a frog."
THANK YOU to Bode's family for letting us borrow the Hullabaloo game and Wendall's family for letting us borrow his obstacle course. These really helped on these frigid days when we cannot go outside.
We are sending home a Stegosaurus Homework Packet. Please try to do one page a night so it is not so overwhelming. Spring Break is an excellent opportunity to do this!
Housekeeping: Please make sure we have extra clothes for your child and they are changed out for size and season.
Resource: Home Literacy Checklist link more to come!

THANK YOU for attending Parent Teacher Conferences! It was so nice to do this with you! We love being a part of your child's education and having this time to collaborate with you all. Friendly reminder, we are closed Thursday & Friday.
Curriculum: Assessments! Getting ready for parent teacher conferences. We explored Imagination Station using collage items at the art center! Please get out and about on the long weekend and look for Environmental Print (letters, numbers, words in their environment). We have been talking a lot about seasons and seasonal changes, and properties and materials (What are things made out of?). Great dinner discussion! With all the breaks coming up, please try to visit some of the great zoos, and museums in our awesome state. We would love to hear about these experiences!
Halloween: There will be a parade outside (weather permitting) in which you are welcome to attend. Followed by a party in our room *no parents sorry. Please let us know if you want to "drop in" your child for the festivities if you are not scheduled that day. Bring your child in their costume with a change of clothes under or to put on after the party.

Parents should be wearing inside the building and try to social distance as much as possible. Please have a talk with your child about these upcoming changes. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns or you can reach out to Linda Jones our principal at Lindamariejones@lps.k12.co.us .
We have spent some good time outdoors enjoying this beautiful weather. We spent time getting to know each other, singing the "Name Name" song. Next week, we are reading Wembley Worries and please bring in or email in family portraits to add to our classroom family tree.
