Early Childhood education
Course Information
Course Description: This course is designed to provide the skills needed to secure employment as a teaching assistant in a childcare center, preschool, or elementary school. Focus is on ages birth to eight. Students enrolled in the program receive training in the classroom setting and in a licensed childcare facility.

Eleventh / Twelfth Grade Band, Standard 1.
Oral Expression & Listening 1. Follow collaborative guidelines to ensure a hearing of a full range of positions on a topic or issue, and evaluate responses.
Eleventh / Twelfth Grade Band, Standard 1.
Oral Expression & Listening 2. Integrate credible, accurate information into appropriate media and formats to meet an audience’s needs.
Eleventh / Twelfth Grade Band, Standard 2.
Reading for All Purposes: 2. Interpret and evaluate complex informational texts using various critical reading strategies.
Eleventh / Twelfth Grade Band, Standard 3.
Writing and Composition 3. Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content.
Eleventh / Twelfth Grade Band, Standard 4.
Research & Design 1. Synthesize multiple, authoritative literary and/or informational sources to answer questions or solve problems, producing well-organized and developed research projects that defend information, conclusions, and solutions.

Concurrent Enrollment Credit: students earn college credit at Arapahoe Community College and high school credit concurrently.
ECE students earn a total of 12 college credits with the successful* completion of all 4 courses. (*C or better grade)
