Painting

Students choose the media they work with and the subject matter for their work. The Painting Center media consists of:

Watercolor, watercolor pencils, tempera paint, acrylic paints, paint pens, a variety of types and sizes of brushes, palette knives, toothbrushes, pencils and Watercolor paper

Mini-lessons for the Painting Center include painting techniques such as:

the Painting process, materials needed, color theory, composition, different styles of painting like; Realism, Abstract, Non-Objective, Painterly and Surrealism (dream paintings).

As with each Center, students are encouraged to challenge themselves by trying something new and/or different. Students then write about the thinking and learning behind their art through Artist Statements and Reflections.
