Absences

If your child will not be attending school on any given day, please report the absence via the school website (school attendance link) or telephone the school on the day of the absence. Illness, medical appointments and bereavement are the only reasons for an excused absence. All other absences are considered “unexcused”. If attendance for the full school day is not possible, we appreciate the effort extended in having your child attend any portion of the day. If your child has more than five excused absences, the school may need to request a doctor’s verification of illness. Please contact the school office if you believe that your child will have an on-going health concern. If a student accumulates three (3) unexcused absences of more than thirty (30) minutes on three (3) occasions in one (1) school year, that student must be reported as a truant and the parent must be notified (Education Code 48205(b) and Education Code Section 48260.5). Students who are excessively absent or tardy may be referred to the School Attendance Review Board. Referral to this board may result in a home visit by child protective agencies or local law enforcement. The Placer County District Attorney’s Office may be notified in the event of habitual truancy. Please work with the school to see that your child attends every day.

Absence Reporting

Any absence not cleared by the student’s parent/guardian within 72 hours will be treated as an unexcused absence.

Tardies

When students are late for school, they must check in at the office before going to class. Please consider that when students walk in late, they are disrupting the entire class.
