Placer Staff is proud of the learning our students engage in throughout the year: collaborating, problem solving, self-advocating, persevering through challenging tasks, demonstrating resilience, and serving others. We are committed to creating a caring, academic environment that supports a growth mindset and achievement for all.
The Miner Way: Respectful, Responsible & Ready to Learn
Through our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Program, we guide students in making connections between positive learner behaviors (hard work, effort, perseverance, collaboration, respect, kindness, resilience...) and understanding they have control over growing their brains through the actions they take. We believe in developing the whole child, and actively recognize students modeling positive, growth-minded learner traits throughout the school year. Each month, 2-3 students are chosen by their teachers to earn the "Mighty Miner" award for that month's character traight. Mighty Miners are recognized in a motnhly assembly/rally for their grade span. Students are also able to earn "Golden Nuggets" at any time for following The Miner Way. We have weekly nugget drawings for popsicles or other treats.
Academic Honors:
Beginning in fourth grade, we recognize students achieving Academic Honor Roll. To qualify, students must achieve the necessary grade point average compiled from the core subjects (Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Science) without Cs, Ds or Fs on the semester report card. The recognition categories are as follows:

Students in grades 7 and 8 will be recognized in an Honor Roll ceremony with the principal. They receive a special invitation for "lunch with a loved one" during the month of February. They also get to participate in the Honor Roll Donut party!
