Behavior Expectations

Behavior expectations are based upon the LBCS IB Attributes. The Extended Day staff members' roles are to provide a strong, nurturing leader helping students grow toward self-discipline and self-direction. (The Extended Day staff will establish guidelines that follow all school rules, post for parents, and discuss them with the children).

Behavior Expectations

The school wide behavior expectations are designed to protect all children and establish a positive and productive learning environment for all students. The Extended Day staff will encourage appropriate behavior through the teaching and reinforcement of positive character traits. The Extended Day staff will work with students to promote appropriate behavior and will assist each student in correcting inappropriate behaviors. Parents can assist their children by reviewing the behavior expectations and by supporting school personnel should behavior concerns arise.

If it becomes necessary for behavior intervention, the following steps will be taken:

BASIC

1. A verbal warning and a staff/child conference

2. A “time out” for the child.

3. A conference with the Extended Day staff and parent.

4. A conference with parent, Extended Day instructor and director. A Plan of Assistance will be developed to address behavior issues (see Student Endangerments). Failure to change behavior may result in a program suspension and a review of continued enrollment options.

DANGEROUS

1. If a child demonstrates excessive, dangerous behavior, the parent or emergency contact must be available to immediately pick up the child.

2. A conference is required prior to the child returning to the program (see Student Endangerment).

Please note the site Director will make all final decisions regarding whether or not to serve children who have been unsuccessful within our LBCS Extended Day Program.

Harassment by children will result in an emergency plan of assistance, and will require an assessment prior to returning to the LBCS Extended Day site.

Per school policy, students who are suspended from school must refrain from being on campus during the period of suspension. Therefore, a student may not be in attendance at the LBCS Extended Day Program.
