How many days off aside from vacation do we get?
You receive 15 sick days (for personal or family illness) and 2 personal days per year. The sick days will accrue if you don't use them all. Only one personal day can be rolled over to the following year.
You can donate 1 sick day to the sick leave bank (a one-time donation in September) to be eligible to request additonal sick time in the future.
If you are using a personal day, be sure to notify your principal at least 24 hrs in advance. You only need permission from the superintendent if the personal day is attached to a holiday/vacation) OR you want to use two consecutive days.
What are the requirements for professional development?
There is a district requirement for employment of 2 SAC in 3 years for all (2 - 15 hour PD courses / 1 - 30 hour course). This does not include required district professional development.
The state requires 150 PDPs for recertification (this only applies if you are currently licensed, not for new teachers)
1 SAC credit is 15 hrs. This is 15 PDPs- you can use it for both requirements
District provided courses are already approved, other courses require pre-approval from Beth Nelson

What is the local union?
