Staff was given an opening survey to start our renewed efforts at finding schedule change which will increase opportunities for students. The results are shown on the slide show to the right.
Our committee is open to all staff and agenda minutes will be updated and made available for all staff.
On November 6, 2024 members of the Increasing Opportunity presented a slide show to our staff which highlighted the impact of a schedule change on student opportunity and student learning.
We will be voting on a MOU starting on November 18th and ending on November 22nd.
The MOU did not pass and so a 7 period schedule is now in negotiation between our union, LEA and the district office. The district, with board approval can impose a simple 7 schedule, which is 7 periods each day for 50 minutes. There would not be weekly early release to allow for staff collaboration and there would not be any room for an intervention, homeroom situation like we have now with Ignite. As you can see from the charts below our staff and students do not favor a simple 7.
