Lower Moreland Middle School's 7th & 8th Grade Chorus is a Co-Curricular (a curricular class with additional outside-of-school-day programmatic requirements) Choir that meets every other day during the school day during one of your child's specials periods. The 7th & 8th Grade Chorus is comprised of ~225 singers and delivers two concerts throughout the school year, plus an incredibly fun and rewarding trip to Dorney Park in the May (participation for this trip is optional). Singers in 7th & 8th Grade Chorus receive a rigorous, but incredibly rewarding, vocal music education. Singers develop a substantial understanding of proper vocal technique, substantive musicianship skills, and, perhaps most importantly, a deep connection to artistry and the music that they sing. Singers in 7th & 8th Grade Chorus perform a variety of repertoire, including soul, pop, spirituals, musical theatre, gospel, classical, and many other genres of music. Additionally, Lower Moreland Middle School's 7th & 8th Grade Chorus boasts a collection of numerous awards including a perfect score from adjudicators at the High Note Music Festival and several 1st place/Superior Ratings from other competitions.
Singers in 7th & 8th Grade Chorus are required to attend a handful of evening commitments throughout the school year in order to properly prepare for concerts. Attendance at these rehearsals is REQUIRED and skipping rehearsal (without an acceptable reason: absence from school, family/medical emergency) will result in a lowered grade for Chorus Class. Your singer only needs to attend rehearsals for their voice part, grade level, or when the FULL CHORUS is required to attend.
