Murray Avenue's 6th Grade Chorus offers singers a foundational singing experience in Murray Avenue School's rigorous choral program. Singers in 6th Grade Chorus will sing a wide variety of repertoire, including pop, jazz, musical theatre, soul, rock, and classical. 6th Graders will learn key concepts of vocal technique and musicianship skills that will enable even the most beginning of singers the tools necessary to be a competent, confident, and passionate singer.
6th Grade Chorus meets as a class during the school day (during your child's specials period) once every six letter days.
Additionally, due to the limited number of in-school classes, 6th Grade Chorus rehearses every Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 4:10 pm in the Murray Avenue Cafeteria. Singers can either get picked-up at the end of rehearsal or take a late bus home.
Singers only need to attend after-school rehearsal on days that their voice part (Soprano, Alto, or Tenor) is required to attend OR for Full Chorus rehearsals. Singers MUST attend rehearsal on their required days. Skipping rehearsal (without an acceptable reason due to absence from school or family/medical emergency) will result in a lowered grade for Chorus class.
Listed below, please see the dates your child's voice section must attend rehearsal/concerts. Additionally, Mr. Weisblatt will communicate these dates to you via email and your child's Chorus Canvas page:
