What is Draftback?

Draftback is a Chrome extension that replays a Google Doc’s revision history. Teachers use it to review student writing processes.

Add Chrome Extension

Install the Chrome extension.
Open a Google Doc that you can edit. Draftback only works when you have Edit access.
Select the Draftback button in the Google Docs toolbar.

Review the document replay. Use the controls to play, pause, rewind, or move ahead through the writing history.
Check the document summary for patterns in writing and revision time.
Use what you notice as a starting point for a conversation with the student. Draftback shows the writing process, but it does not determine whether AI was used. Draftback FAQ
