SmartBoard MX is an interactive display used at Bala Cynwyd and Welsh Valley Middle Schools.
You have two options for using your board:
Log into the SMART board- This allows you to have all your Google resources directly on the board. You do not need to use your laptop (after initial setup).
Use Smart Mirror App- This allows you to mirror your laptop on the board wirelessly.
If your board is frozen or glitchy, the best first step is a restart: press and hold the physical Power button on the front control panel for 10 seconds. A menu will eventually appear on the screen. Tap Restart to reboot the system and clear any software issues.
The SMART ID card acts as a secure digital key to sign you into your SMART Account without typing a password.
However, it is not a "roaming profile." While it maintains your login session and access to Lumio files, it does not sync device-specific settings like custom backgrounds, app layouts, or Google Drive.
*Pro-Tip: For counselors or traveling teachers who need a consistent experience across multiple rooms, we recommend using SMART Mirror.
Avoid mirroring for video. Open the video directly on the SMART Board using the built-in Browser or YouTube app. This ensures a better sync by using the board’s own processing power rather than your Wi-Fi signal.
Yes. When using SMART Mirror, choose to share a "Window" instead of your "Entire Screen." This keeps your private work on your laptop while students only see the selected presentation on the board.
Note: Touchback (controlling your laptop from the SMART Board) is only available when sharing your Entire Screen.
Yes. Open your first file, tap the Recent Apps icon (square with two lines), and select the Split Screen icon. Then, open your second file in the new window.
If the automatic sync isn't working, you can set it manually:
Open the Settings app on the board.
Search for "Time" to open the date/time screen.
Toggle "Set time automatically" to OFF.
Manually reset the clock to the correct time.
Use a dry microfiber cloth.
