To this point, our songs have been very basic with their chords. We can start to expand on our chordal accompaniment with two new ideas:
Pads are when you have chords playing a longer duration of a rhythm. So far, all of the chords we've been playing have been pads for the full duration of the measure.
Pads don't need to be 4 beats long, though. Pads usually start either (1) at the beginning of the measure, or (2) with the kick drum.
Punches are the opposite of pads, because they are shorter in length. Pads can occur at any point in the bar - on the beat or in between.
Here's an example of what each one of these might look like in your project:
For project 4.3, do the following:
Compose a chord progression, drum beat, and bass line.
