Workers Permit
Workers Permit
If you're under age 16, you'll need a work permit to be employed.
Below is the step by step process for obtaining your work permit:
In order to apply for a permit, you must already have secured the promise of a job (interviewing or putting in applications is not enough, the employer wants to hire you).
Contact Karen Wolfe at kswolfe@llschools.net 505 866-8236 to make an appointment.
At the appointment, you and your parent or guardian presents your birth certificate and you complete the form.
You take the form to your the employer who wants to hire you to complete the form stating hours and duties.
You bring the form back to Ms. Wolfe and she signs it. She gives you a copy and send one to the state.
Your copy of the signed form goes to your employer to post. That is when you're cleared to begin working (not one minute before).
During summer breaks, a work permit can be obtained at the Department of Workforce Solutions (Los Lunas location)
Work permits need to renewed when:
a year passes
you change jobs
After your 16th birthday, you'll no longer need a work permit.
