The UTRGV Early Assurance Program (EAP) is for RGV high school students interested in pursuing a future career in medicine. South Texas graduates now have a convenient path to become future physicians through admission and completion of the Vaqueros MD Program.
Vaqueros MD Early Assurance Program (EAP) selects a limited number of high-achieving South Texas students who begin their undergraduate career and receive conditional admission to the entering medical class at UTRGV School of Medicine upon graduation.
The Early Medical School Acceptance Program (EMSAP) is designed to provide a rigorous undergraduate educational experience to ensure that students who are economically and/or educationally disadvantaged receive the academic exposure and preparation required to successfully pursue a medical education. Upon acceptance to EMSAP, students will receive conditional acceptance to The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) School of Medicine, if they complete all EMSAP requirements and graduate from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). EMSAP has a productive record in recruiting talented students to attend medical school at UTMB.
Students in the UTRGV Honors College follow our basic honors curriculum, the Rafael and Carmen Guerra Honors Program, which includes specialized tracks for pre-medical and pre-law students, and for students in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship. The UTRGV Honors College is open to students from any major.
The Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program is a partnership between Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine that promotes the education of students who are scientifically talented, compassionate towards others and socially conscious. Through this joint effort, Rice/Baylor seek to enroll students of high-achievement that desire to work in healthcare and represent the diverse communities in which they serve. Baylor College of Medicine reserves this program for U.S. citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents. Rice and Baylor College of Medicine select a limited number of first-year students each year to pursue a four-year bachelor's degree at Rice, followed by conditional admission to Baylor College of Medicine.
The Pre-JAMP and Pre-Medical Symposium is a half-day symposium intended for Texas residents who are high school juniors, seniors and college students who are interested in the field of medicine.
Other programs are for students who enroll at Texas A&M University at College Station and wish to pursue medical school after completing their Bachelor degrees.

For students who are considering enrolling in medical school after their undergraduate education, an attractive opportunity is available. The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Early Acceptance Program (EAP) is open to residents of the State of Texas only. It is a joint effort between several Texas colleges and universities and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine for qualified, highly motivated students to obtain an early acceptance to medical school.

The Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) is a special program created by the Texas Legislature to support and encourage highly qualified, economically disadvantaged Texas resident students pursuing a medical education. Since 2003, JAMP has been helping Texas students achieve their dreams with guaranteed admission to one of the state's eleven medical schools, financial, and academic support to help them get there, and access to resources that allow them to excel.
