Choosing a Topic

Think about the things you are interested in—things you would like to do, learn, understand, see, improve, create or experience.  What career are you interested in pursuing after high school?  Brainstorm.  Don’t limit yourself at this point.  Narrow down your ideas to three or four that are doable and prioritize them.  

When deciding whether or not a particular project idea is doable, consider what resources are available. You must consider all aspects of your project and think about what each aspect will require to be successful.

• Is what you want to do accessible and realistic?

• Can you afford this project?

• Can you complete it in time? 

• Are there confidentiality considerations?

Your project should maintain your interest for an extended period of time and meet the approval of your Capstone Project Advisor and your parents.  

Other Considerations

• If you plan on holding an activity in the school, you will need to fill out necessary paperwork (building use form) and coordinate times with your Capstone Project Advisor, the Principal, and Mrs. Hazlett in the CTC to make sure that your activity will not conflict with any other activities.

• If your project involves a fundraiser, you must complete the required paperwork and follow school and Capstone policies and procedures.
