On a 4-point competency scale, Littleton High School students must earn a grade of 1.5 to pass each of their classes.
Graduation Requirements Worksheet: Students are encouraged to keep track of their progress towards graduation!
For those students who need to recover unearned credits, Littleton High School students are encouraged to connect with their School Counselor to help identify the barriers that kept them from passing. Through collaboration with the student, their family, and the teacher, the School Counselor will determine if the student will take the class again at Littleton High School or be referred to the Above The Notch evening program for credit recovery.
Littleton High School also has the option to offer students and their families a 20-credit New Hampshire Core Diploma if it would better suit the student's situation.
Littleton High School students have autonomy in choosing the elective choices they would like to take throughout high school. The School Counselor keeps track of every student's progress towards graduation, so required courses are prioritized. If a schedule change is made, trust that it is done so in the student's best interest towards graduation.
A student who registers for a course has made a commitment to complete the course and it is the expectation that they will do so. During the scheduling process, in the Spring of the school year before, students may make any scheduling/request changes they would like with the assistance of their School Counselor. Schedule change requests after the beginning of the school year or semester will be considered but not guaranteed. The Add/Drop period is limited to the first 5 class days after the course start date.
50 hours of community service is a requirement for graduation from Littleton High School. Due to COVID-19 disrupting students' ability to get out in the community, hours have been amended for the classes of 2023 and 2024:
Class of 2023/Seniors: 35 Hours
Class of 2024/Juniors: 40 Hours
Class of 2025/Sophomores: 50 Hours
Class of 2026/Freshmen: 50 Hours
Students completing the required number of community service hours will receive one-half credit (0.5) on their transcript in their graduation year or upon withdrawal from Littleton High School. Graduating seniors earning more than 100 hours of community service will receive special recognition at graduation. In addition, many scholarships have a community service component.
Community members and students should send hours to Mrs. Peg Bromley at pbromley@littletonschools.org for approval.

The New Hampshire Scholars program is an optional course of study that encourages students to follow a more rigorous Core Course of Study during their high school career. By successfully completing more challenging courses students will increase their chances of success in college and the job world, improve their ability to obtain scholarships for post-high school education, and develop critical thinking skills that are valuable in any job. Students who complete one of these Core Courses of Study will be granted special distinction at graduation and will be eligible for merit scholarships at several NH colleges. Students may be recognized in more than one Pathway if requirements are met. Students seeking to become a New Hampshire Scholar are encouraged to discuss this with their School Counselor early on. New Hampshire Scholars Eligible Courses at Littleton High School: Review this list of LHS course offerings that count towards the New Hampshire Scholars requirements
The Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) offers dual enrollment opportunities through their Early College programming at White Mountains Community College and online eStart college courses. These programs provide opportunities for students to affordably earn both college and high school credit while still in high school. Dual enrollment courses may also be available through VLACS. CCSNH dual enrollment courses have costs attached but are significantly cheaper to take as a high school student. Scholarships are also available (see below). Students are encouraged to discuss these options with their School Counselor.
Through a partnership between Littleton High School and the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH), students have opportunities to earn college credit through the Running Start program. Through this program, students may opt to take CCSNH-approved courses for dual enrollment credit. LHS courses designated as Running Start (RS) courses have been determined to offer the same content as a course within the CCSNH course catalog. As a result, students who successfully meet the requirements of the course and the RS agreement are eligible to earn college credit. RS credits are accepted at many college campuses around the country, including the CCSNH campuses, as well as the University System of New Hampshire schools. A course registration fee of $150.00 per course (as much as 80% savings on CCSNH tuition) must be paid at the beginning of the course. Scholarship options may be available; contact your School Counselor for more information. Students and families should refer to the Program of Studies for a list of current Running Start offerings.
Governor’s Dual and Concurrent Enrollment STEM/CTE Scholarship Information: Thanks to a program through the State of NH and the Community College System of NH, eligible high school students taking dual or concurrent credit courses through Running Start, eStart and Early College can take up to 2 STEM (science, technology, engineering and math)/CTE (Career and Technical Education) courses per academic year for free.
Dual enrollment credit that is not earned through an in-house Running Start course is considered transfer credit and will not be included in a student’s LHS cumulative GPA.
Littleton High School accepts transferred credits from online programs, such as the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS), for courses that are not offered at LHS or cannot be scheduled due to conflicts in the master schedule. Credit for completed online courses will be applied to a student’s LHS transcript upon receipt of an official transcript from the online school. It is the responsibility of the student and/or their parent to request that the official transcript be sent to the LHS School Counseling Office. Transfer credits will not be included in a student’s LHS cumulative GPA.
Visit https://vlacs.org/ for course offerings and to enroll. Students must enroll directly, with their parents/guardians, for VLACS courses. VLACS programs are free for NH students. Students who wish to take an online course should let their School Counselor know.
