Transition Assessments allow students, educators and parents to understand and identify areas of strength and areas of growth that are needed in order for students to reach their postsecondary goals. Assessments assist educators in how to focus instruction, coordinate supports needed, and identify outside resources that may be beneficial to the student.
The transition assessment matrix consists of a list of transition assessments based on course of study and skill areas that are assessed for postsecondary education, independent living skills and employment.
Transition Inventories
(Educational Development Plan or EDP Platform)
Xello is a great tool for career exploration and building an Educational Development Plan (EDP). Remember all students in Michigan starting in 7th grade should have the opportunity to develop an EDP and review it again in 8th grade. In grades 9-12 all students need to update their EDP annually.
Xello can assist students in discovering their learning styles, personality styles, and create matches for careers based on student information.
The EDP should be considered when creating transition plans.
