Description
Students will have the opportunity to work with screen printing, mixed media and traditional art materials to create exciting and experimental pieces they can take home.
Day 1
We will explore print making and screen printing linking to mural artists such as Banksy and pop art artists such as Andy Warhol, who work predominantly in block colours. Participants will work towards exploring the technique, designing their own piece, and realizing it during the day's workshop. They should bring a T-shirt or bag if they wish to print their design on to an item of clothing.
Day 2
We will explore collagraph printing in connection to artists Jenny McCabe and Sue Brown. Participants will work towards exploring the technique, designing their own piece, and realizing it during the day's workshop.
Day 3
Participants will be given the freedom to select from the two days of workshops or if they have a big idea they would like to realize, to set their own aims for the day. They may create a T-shirt print, a piece of collagraph art, or something using the materials or a mixture of the materials we have available in the classroom. If students would like to stitch their printed cloth into a hairband scrunchy or simple bag, this is also available for them to do on this day.
