Reassure students that we will figure it out together. This is a time for "radical flexibility" for all of us. Expect setbacks and frame student expectations around the notion of adaptability. Think through backup plans of utilizing the technology tools as the entire nation will also be teaching remotely and using the tools. There may be delays as well especially with processing recordings.
Think about the best way to deliver your content while engaging your students. If you want to do synchronous meetings (live meetings), you will need to keep it in the same time frame as your scheduled course. You will most likely need to record your sessions as well in order for students who are unable to attend at that time frame to watch on their own time. Some students may be using their phones to connect as well.
Make sure all students have access to the materials, books, and technology they need to continue the class. Think inclusively: be clear with students about they they need for your class, from books to webcams. Once again think about both high tech and lower-tech solutions. Feel free to use one of the student survey resources provided below.
Keep it simple. Make sure that your communication with students is consistent. Also, make sure that the way you organize your content is in an easy-to-follow format.
