REgister for band

"Band Interviews"

If your child is uncertain about what instrument will be the best fit for next year, please click on one of the two links below to sign-up for an individualized meeting with your child's 5th grade band director. These "band interviews" will be scheduled sometime between May 14-31, and are required for students wanting to play percussion and optional for those choosing a woodwind or brass instrument.

During the "band interview" students will be able to try-out mouthpieces for each instrument that interests them, and you can then use the band director's recommendation to help finalize your child's instrument selection decision. These instrument tryouts will be conducted on an individual basis (one student and parent at a time), mouthpieces will be rotated and sanitized between interviews.  If you choose to sign-up for mouthpiece testing, please wait until after your child's interview to register for the 2023-24 5th grade band and for the summer lesson program.

REGISTER for a Summer Beginning Band Class

*Updated 5/3 - Registration link is now live!

The Linn-Mar 5th grade bands have a tradition of excellence due in large part to these summer classes during which students are introduced to the basics of how to read music and assemble and play their instruments.  Like-instrument classes meet for 45-minutes per day for 12 days during two sessions (Session 1: June 6-21, Session 2: July 8-23).  Participation in one of these classes is highly recommended to give your child a solid and more individualized start on their band instrument before the school year starts. The cost for the summer lesson program is $100; the fee is waived for all students on Free & Reduced Lunch. Class times for each instrument are listed below.

Please visit the following link to register for summer lessons:

SUMMER BEGINNING BAND REGISTRATION - This link is now live!

If you are unable to attend a Linn-Mar Beginning Band Class this summer, please consider finding a local private lesson teacher to work with your child weekly.  Your band director can make great recommendations on a professional to contact who specializes in teaching the instrument your child chooses to play.
