5th Grade BanD Class Description
Band is an elective class open to all 5th graders.
This class meets twice per 6-day cycle for 40 minutes during the school day. Band meets during designated non-academic time, so your child will not miss any classroom instruction during band time.
During large group band classes your child will learn the basics of how to balance and blend with a collective group of musicians and will learn the how to rehearse collaboratively to prepare music for concert performances.
Individual Lessons
Each band member will receive a 15-minute lesson once per cycle. These individualized lessons take place during the regular school day.
During lessons your child will receive individual attention and technical instruction specific to your child’s instrument that cannot be taught during the full band rehearsal. Lessons contribute greatly to each student’s individual musical achievement and to the performance of the entire ensemble.
Concert Performances
During a typical year, the Boulder Peak and Hazel Point 5th grade bands will perform three evening concerts. Concerts typically take place in November, February, and May.
