“I am a big momma’s boy,” says Trent Mueller, junior inside linebacker for the Lindsey Wilson College Football Team, when asked to describe himself.
Mueller comes to LWC from a family that resides in Nashville, TN. He has four siblings; Emma, Wyley, 26; Hayden, 24; and Olivia, 19. His brother, Hayden, played football at Faulkner University in Alabama. Mueller attended Nashville Christian School where he earned a football scholarship from Coach Oliver and LWC. He is just one of two student-athletes from his graduating class that is still playing at the collegiate level.
“I knew football would be my sport because I was too physical for soccer,” Mueller said with a chuckle. “My dad really got me into it [football] in the 3rd grade and I ran with it.”
This season Mueller has been named Conference Defensive Player of the Week twice.

“I was surprised, but it’s a product of the calls and schemes of our defense,” he said when asked about the recognition. “I just tackle people.”
Not only is Mueller a standout linebacker on the field, but also an exceptional student in the classroom. He prides himself on the ability to balance practice and homework during a busy preparation week for a new opponent each week. Mueller has been a member of Academic All Mid-South Conference team, an NAIA Scholar Athlete, and NAIA-CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District. He is studying for his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus in Management.
Mueller prides himself in his ability to set an example for his teammates on and off the field.
“My role is to encourage and set an example. I always try to be positive and lead in an uplifting way,” Mueller says. “My role on the field is to make sure everyone knows their assignment and to make tackles.”
Currently, Mueller is second on the list for most tackles in a season with 90, just two behind the all-time leader, Michael Brooks.
His goal this year is to take the NAIA National Championship with his fellow Blue Raiders. You can catch Mueller making tackles in his last two home games of junior year on November 4th and November 11th against Georgetown and Campbellsville.
