A suspect has been arrested in possible connection with shots being fired after the Lindsey Wilson College vs. Campbellsville University rivalry basketball game last night, according to LWC administration and those around the scene.
After the final buzzer sounded, a select number of Campbellsville fans were quick to storm the floor to celebrate the rivalry win, with LWC staff on hand to contain the scenes, if they were to become violent. However, the threat of violence continued into the parking lot.
Reports indicate there were multiple shots fired in the Biggers Sports Center parking lot, adjacent to the Horton housing complex, as the crowd was making its way outside after the game. According to an email sent by Dr. Dean Adams, Vice President for Student Services, “the suspect immediately left campus.”
The shots were reportedly fired into the air and emergency services were contacted, via a 911 call. Campus Public Safety and officers were among the first responders to the scene.
Adams also said, in a campus wide email, “the suspect was not affiliated with Lindsey Wilson College.”
There were no injuries as a result of the incident, and RaiderView will update the story as more information becomes available.
