What We Believe About Learning

In IMPACT, students will participate in an innovative learning environment where they explore their passions, connect disciplines, and tailor their education to have a personal, local, and global impact.

The IMPACT Experience
The IMPACT experience stands out by offering a dynamic and comprehensive educational approach. Through a combination of interdisciplinary seminars, inquiry-based investigations, hands-on field experiences, and internships, students gain a well-rounded education that equips them for success in a global, competitive world. The curriculum is designed to integrate various disciplines, allowing students to earn multiple credits within a single course.

The figure above shows how each seminar will focus on cross- curricular learning competencies. In this example, a student would have the opportunity to earn competencies from three different content areas.

IMPACT Competencies for Diploma+
As part of the coursework, students engage in IMPACT Projects that target three core areas of development: Personal Impact, Local Impact, and Global Impact. These projects encourage learners to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world challenges, fostering growth and making meaningful contributions on various levels.

Seminars offer students the opportunity to learn through the lens of multiple content areas in a single seminar. Competencies are then accumulated throughout the year to earn credit equivalent to normal course content.

The IMPACT Student
IMPACT is for students who are intrinsically motivated and will flourish in a personalized, self-driven learning environment; IMPACT students make connections in their learning across academic disciplines and explore their own personal, local, and global impact.

Any student is welcome to apply. Students should have an interest in cross-curricular learning, self-directed projects, and a willingness to think beyond the traditional classroom. IMPACT is structured to allow students to push themselves to find what motivates them most and pursue those interests.
