Licensed Mental Health Counselor (WA License #LH60996161)
Hello! I am a licensed mental health counselor based in Washington State, offering a warm, compassionate, and client-centered approach to therapy. With a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University, I bring a deep commitment to helping individuals and families heal, grow, and thrive.
I am certified in a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). I tailor my therapeutic approach to each individual, ensuring that treatment is flexible and responsive to each client’s unique needs and goals.
For over a decade, I have been working with a wide range of populations, empowering clients to find their voice, embrace their strengths, and build self-worth through healing and self-acceptance.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 15 years as a journalist in Tokyo and New York, where I cultivated a deep understanding of diverse cultural and social dynamics. I hold degrees in law (Kumamoto University, Japan) and sociology (City University of New York) and have a strong interest in the intersection of psychology and social justice. I am passionate about advocating for marginalized communities, including First Nations peoples, BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and others affected by systemic inequality.
My path to counseling was deeply shaped by my personal experience. In 2011, after the Great East Japan Earthquake and Fukushima nuclear disaster, I and my family relocated to Seattle in search of safety. During that challenging transition, I experienced firsthand the toll that trauma and uncertainty can take on mental health. Through this, I discovered a calling to support others navigating trauma―from natural disasters to relationship violence―and help them rediscover safety, hope, and resilience.
Today, I offer secure telehealth counseling services to individuals, families, and couples. My services include parenting skills training, trauma recovery, and support for those coping with anxiety, depression, or life transitions.
I am currently offering a free 50-minute trial session to help new clients explore whether my approach feels like the right fit. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to connecting with you!
In my personal life, I love singing, writing articles and stories, playing the ukulele, and doing puppet shows for kids!
