Direct contact with industry experts allowed us to learn and consolidate STEM disciplines and make part of our project a reality. Collaborations were organized into three groups:

Mario Negri Institute

The Mario Negri Institute is a private and independent non-profit scientific organization that operates in the field of biomedical research, with the aim of defending human health and life. Founded in Milan in 1961, it now has three locations in Milan, Bergamo, and Ranica (BG) and employs 700 people. The main objectives of the Institute are the implementation of scientific research projects, the training of young researchers, and the dissemination of research results at all levels. Their values are independence, authenticity, integrity, dissemination, and philanthropy.

Bicocca University

The University of Milano Bicocca is a multidisciplinary institution that offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in 7 disciplinary areas: economics and statistics, law, medicine, sociology, psychology, science, and humanities. The 14 departments constitute the organizational structure of scientific research and educational activities of the university. Every year, the university welcomes about 2,200 students from all over the world. Since 2019, the rector of the university is Giovanna Iannantuoni.

Sacco System is the international biotech hub for food, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical innovation. Lactic ferments, probiotics, rennet, and many other ingredients are used to promote the culture of food and life. CAP group

CAP Group manages the integrated water service of the Metropolitan City of Milan. It is a completely public company that operates in accordance with the principles of transparency, responsibility, and participation. The company is constantly committed to providing efficient services to all citizens while respecting the environment and the territory. The plants, wells, and networks are fundamental for the services that the company offers. The group was founded in 1928 and currently has 194 member municipalities.

BioC-CheM Solutions

BioC-CheM Solutions Srl is a contract research organization founded in September 2020 by internationally recognized chemists and microbiologists committed to identifying, purifying, and producing impurities for analytical purposes. Pharmaceutical active ingredients (APIs) or pharmaceutical products may contain impurities such as degradation products, synthesis intermediates/process impurities, or unwanted by-products resulting from side reactions.

Chemservice S.r.l

ChemService S.r.l is a company operating in the national market that supplies products, plants and services in the field of industrial water treatment. For this specific application sector, it has a wide range of integrated solutions. The use of products combined with proven treatment techniques ensures the achievement of the best technical-economic results. It is an organization dedicated to managing issues related to water supply, treatment and purification of industrial and civil water.

Local Sponsors

Territorial sponsors allow us to collect water samples from streams that flow through different municipalities. This allows us to create a map of the areas surrounding our high school to understand the spread of drugs and antibiotics in the environment. Our goal is to expand our analysis to as many municipalities as possible, so that we can carry out a wide and in-depth study.

PLIS park

The Basso Olona Park is located in the northwestern portion of the territory of the Metropolitan City, in the context of the high irrigated plain and immediately south of the Villoresi canal. The PLIS territory is characterized by the presence of springs and resurgence waters, with agricultural activities that, although penalized by strong anthropic pressure, appear quite diversified. There is in fact a conspicuous presence of arable land, meadows and vegetable crops, while dairy cattle breeding is well represented.

Giretta Wood - La Risorgiva

The association La Risorgiva is a group made up of volunteers of all ages and nature lovers. It was born in 1998 from the idea of the Settimo Milanese municipal administration to entrust the care of the Giretta Wood to citizens. La Risorgiva manages the forest by carrying out many activities: maintenance (maintenance work groups take care of cutting grass, repairing and replacing furnishings, caring for vegetation), cleaning, surveillance, management of the picnic area, education, organization of cultural and recreational initiatives.

IED
