Painting  2,3&4

Painting - Prerequisite Art 1 and/or teacher permission. Art Painting is an advanced course in 2- dimensional media with a focus on  Painting and/or mixed media. Students should have a strong foundation in drawing, good understanding and knowledge of the Elements and Principles of Design and are capable of rigorous studio and research requirements.

 Students will explore tempera, watercolor, acrylic and oil paint in this course along with those techniques and studio practices. Students will develop through research, exploration, practice and independent choice. We will also take a look at historic and modern painters and their styles and techniques. 

Although some lessons and subjects will be outlined by the teacher, students should also have their own ideas and photo inspirations to use in future paintings in the class.

Advanced painting students will maintain a digital portfolio throughout the year and will have opportunities to show and submit works to events and competitions.
