Robert E .Lee was born in January 19th ,1807 in Stafford ,Virginia. He was the son of war hero Harry Lee ,A.K.A(Light horse). Robert was the only child in his family. He had both his mother and father in his life, And was born to a well-known Virginia family. His father Henry Lee lll was a commander of the northern Virginia Army. His mother Anne Hill Carter Lee was a wealthy woman so I'm guessing she did not work and stayed home with Robert when he was home from school.

Robert was in the U.S army. The very first war he fought in was the war with Mexico. That the war where Lee first put his bravery on display. On His first job he was a war engineer. He built roads and bridges for the army. Robert did his job so well that the current general at the time Winfield Scott had lee scout for the army. a bit after scouting Robert then resigned for the U.S army and immediately started to work with the confederate army. He was general of the southern Virginia army.

When Abraham Lincoln asked Robert E .Lee to fight for the north, Robert didn’t want to go against his home state. he disagreed with what Virginia believed in ,and he also didn't like the fact that they supported slavery. Robert was torn. He thought about his decision and fought for the southern states. Even thought he hated slavery he still have much, much love for his state. He felt like he had made the right decision.
