The Lady Hornets had their soccer senior night on Wednesday, October 8th, at 6:30 p.m. They had a 7-0 win against Lakewood. The Lady Hornets have eleven seniors on the team, nine on varsity, and two on jv. Senior Elizabeth Kiley expressed how her favorite part of the whole night was seeing all the support the seniors received for their hard work and seeing her friends come to cheer her on for her special night. After this emotional night, she explains her current excitement towards having more free time, but is still upset about the season soon coming to an end. Elizabeth depicted how she had a lot of fun in high school, especially with fun traditions like team dinners. However, her favorite senior memory is the Lady Hornets' 4-0 win against our rival, Watkins. Elizabeth’s message to all underclassmen involved in sports is to not get involved with drama because karma is real and will come for you.
As for the underclassmen, sophomore Ana Ferrer, discusses the bittersweet feeling of the seniors soon leaving the team. She emphasizes how she is so happy for them to do great things, but she feels sad that they are leaving because she thinks they are the best group of girls. Ana remembers her favorite memory with the seniors being a fun day the lady hornets had when they played football and ate ice cream. She believed her favorite part of the senior night was the celebrations they had after each goal was scored. Ana’s message to the seniors is that she hopes they do big things, but to never forget her and how much she loves them. Even with their senior night coming to an end, the Lady Hornets soccer team is currently preparing for their first playoff game on Thursday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m. against Teays Valley.

2024-2025 Girls Wrestling Season
The Lady Hornets have been hosting open mats before the official start to wrestling season for both middle and high school athletes. The average turnout for the open mats has been over ten girls each day. Coach Robert Price has coached wrestling for over 20 years, and offered on the mat conditioning to help get new wrestlers in shape for the upcoming wrestling season. These conditioning practices are led by team captains Lilli Seeman and Molly Crabtree. When asked about his hopes for this year's season Coach Price answered “I hope to see growth as a team.” Coach Price then explains “to achieve this will take good attitudes and constant effort from everyone on the team. We as a team cannot be average.” Coach Price is excited to coach the girls through this season.
Returning Lady Hornets
Molly Crabtree is a returning wrestler who had her season ended early because of a broken hand. After being asked if breaking her hand would negatively affect her season this year she says “I don't see this affecting me this year, the bigger the setback the greater the comeback.” Lilli Seeman, returning for her second year wrestling, is excited “to grow and get better and I’m excited about how many girls are showing up to practice, high school and middle school. I’m also excited to hopefully reach my personal goals for this year.” Leilah Casey, a sophomore this year, has been looking forward the most to “getting better [and] growing the girls team.” Jillian Armentrout, who is a senior this year, said her favorite memory from last year's wrestling season was “us on breaks during wrestling playing cards and having a good time playing games.” Each girl had her own challenge to overcome but throughout the season they grew stronger together and overcame every obstacle.

The girls and boys had a great start to the season at Fortress Obetz for their preseason meet. There were many great meets throughout the season. At the Utica meet, one of the toughest meets, the girls took home first place. The girls and boys also both got 1st at their home meet. Not only did both teams get 1st but all the girls placed in the top 15. At the home meet the teams had their annual senior morning walk. The girls team celebrated senior Jordan Watkins, while the boys team celebrated seniors Oliver Mills , Oliver Lieser, Ethan Martindill and Kushal Chapagai.
Unfortunately, injuries had a major setback on many of the runners this season causing the girl's team to have an incomplete team with some meets only having 4 out of the 8 runners running due to injuries. Although injuries had a setback for the athletes they managed to pull through and have an amazing end to the season. Both teams ended their season by running a great race at districts.
Although the teams ended their season at districts, junior Addison Caudill moved on as she placed 12th at districts qualifying her to run the following week at regionals. At regionals, Addison managed to have another phenomenal race placing 21st in the region and qualified for State. Addison placed 60th in the state, and had a great end to her season! She is the first female runner from Licking Heights since the 1980s to run in the state meet. This young lady is not only a fantastic runner but she is an even better teammate and never fails to show support for her teammates.
Even though the team's season just ended they are looking forward to next season and already preparing for it.

The Licking Heights Girls Golf Team had an amazing season this year that was filled with many new personal and team records. Licking Heights Girls Golf is a growing program at our school and the team nearly doubled from 8 members in the 2023 season to 15 members in the 2024 season.
From starting practice on July 29, the team had a quick turn around with their first varsity match on August 2. With only a few days of practice, the team took 2nd and gave themselves a good starting point for the year. The varsity team reached a new record together at the second LCL hosted by Newark Catholic at Moundbuilders Country Club with a score of 398, this was also the teams first time breaking 400 and some of the girls including Lily Reich, Mia Ferrer and Kayla Czuckowitz broke 100. The JV team this year was able to defeat Granville in their match at Denison golf club. Both teams worked hard all season and formed friendly competition.
The team honored their seniors: Brooklyn Fink, Lily Meidl, Allison Roach, and Hannah Thomas in a celebratory night at Willow Run Golf Course that included dinner, senior recognition and a scramble with the boys team. The team ended their season by participating in a Fam Scram that included the girls' families and friends. Although the season is only about 2 months, the team created new records and memories they will remember forever.
