• The Ides of March: March 15th was a deadline for settling debts in Rome, but is now infamous as the day Julius Caesar was assassinated.

• Anglo-Saxon Name: They called it Hlyd monath ("Stormy month") or Hraed monath ("Rugged month"). 

• Equinox: The March equinox occurs around March 20th-21st, when day and night are of equal length.

• Hibernation Ends: March is when many animals start waking up from hibernation.

• "In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb": This proverb suggests March begins with stormy weather and ends with calmer, spring-like days.

• Birth Flower & Stone: The March birth flower is the Daffodil; birthstones are Aquamarine and Bloodstone.

• Famous Firsts: Alexander Graham Bell made the first phone call on March 10, 1876. The first Monopoly game was invented on March 7, 1933.
