Something new is about to hit the air at Licking Heights High School. This fall, students will debut The Buzz On Air, a brand-new podcast created and led entirely by Licking Heights students. The show promises to highlight school life, showcase student voices, and bring fresh perspectives to the Hornet community.
What makes this project stand out is that it’s not just another school activity run by adults — it’s powered by students. From hosting and interviewing to editing and promoting, the podcast team is in control. Faculty advisors will be available to offer guidance, but the content, style, and direction of the show are all in students' hands. That makes The Buzz On Air an authentic reflection of what matters most to Licking Heights students.
So what can listeners expect? Episodes will cover just about everything happening in and around the school. Student spotlights will feature personal stories and experiences, while club and sports highlights will take listeners behind the scenes of the activities that make school life exciting. There will be episodes about academics, including college prep and study tips, as well as arts and culture features showcasing the talents of musicians, artists, and performers. The team also plans to bring in alumni and community voices, along with fun, interactive segments like student shout-outs and listener-submitted stories.
The student-led team is preparing to release episodes weekly, depending on schedules, and the show will be available here on The Buzz - The Newspaper for Licking Heights High School.
For students, this podcast is more than just entertainment — it’s an opportunity to be heard. It gives them a platform to share their ideas, opinions, and creativity with a wide audience, while also building real-world skills in communication, collaboration, and media production. For teachers, parents, and the larger community, it’s a chance to hear directly from the students themselves — unfiltered and in their own words.
With its launch right around the corner, The Buzz On Air is shaping up to be one of the most exciting student projects of the year. It’s a podcast made by students, for students, and it’s ready to bring the voice of Licking Heights High School to life.
