Terminology
ELL or EL: English Language Learner or English Learner
ML: Multilingual Learner
ESL: English as a Second Language
LEP: Limited English Proficient
Newcomer: New to the US (less than 1 year)
LTEL: Long-term English Learner
SLIFE: Student with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education
EB: Emergent Bilingual
ENL: English as a New Language
