Changing learning, changing lives: The next chapter in LEO's PedTech journey.
Dr. Fiona Aubrey-Smith's new report explores LEO's sustainability, scalability & approach to AI.
Dr Fiona Aubrey Smith explains who 'The Next Chapter' report is aimed at and why it is another important milestone for the wider EdTech community.
Key findings include:
1) LEO students continue to outperform national averages, with the gap widening even as the trust expands to include previously low-attaining schools.
2) The number of children on the Special Educational Needs (SEN) register requiring additional interventions (with associated costs) at LEO is decreasing year on year, despite higher levels of need coming into the schools - reflecting high-quality holistic and inclusive educational provision. This is in stark contrast to national trends which have the opposite trajectory.
3) LEO staff are saving significant time thanks to AI training, improving wellbeing, reducing workload, and potentially saving costs.
4) New schools joining LEO see rapid, sustainable improvement, achieving in one year what took founding schools three.
5) Significantly higher numbers of children across LEO use core accessibility features on digital devices, than SEND or EAL figures might suggest. This level of accessibility based on preference or self-identified need is seen as a core ingredient to fully inclusive and high-impact classrooms.
LEO's pioneering, pedagogy-first approach to digital learning, built on eight core levers, is also explored in the report.
1. Executive leadership of digital
2. Matrix trust leadership of digital
3. Appointed and supported school champions
4. Appointed and supported class based young digital leaders
5. A small but strategically chosen digital package and progression framework
6. Ongoing research, evaluation and sharing
7. Enabling of learning as a cultural mindset
8. Solution-oriented long-term financial planning
