Welcome to 1st and 2nd Grade Physical Education!
Welcome back to another school year. I am very excited to once again be teaching your students the importance of staying physically active. This year we have many exciting and new things planned for PE. We will be continuing practicing some of the things we learned last year to become more proficient at them and we will be adding some new skills in as well. It is my goal to not only teach the students the importance of being physically active, but also how to cooperate and work together as a team. This is a vital skill in life, not just in a PE classroom.
Expectations: My classroom expectations are pretty simple. I like to keep them short so the students can remember them easily and I refer back to them often throughout the school year when it is needed.
Respect: Respect for the teacher, for each other, and for the equipment we use.
Freeze, sit, listen: When I blow my whistle this is what they should be doing because it usually means that I have something important to say to them.
Good Sportsmanship: They must try their hardest, always playing fair and speaking with good purpose to one another.
What we are working on for the week of 9/5/23
This is our first week of physical education. This week will mostly focus on getting to know each other and on classroom expectations and procedures.
1st Grade: Demonstrate an awareness of personal space, general space, and boundaries while moving in different directions and at high, medium, and low levels in space.
Objective: Students will be able to move in an open area while staying inside boundaries and not running into one another.
2nd Grade: Demonstrate respect for self, others, and equipment during physical activities.
Objective: Students will be able to show respect to each other, the teacher, and the equipment used during PE class.
