About Ms Edwards

I have been an Athletic Trainer for 12 years and have taught high school for 10 years. I have taught all levels of Health Science, Sports Medicine 1 & 2, Work Based Learning, Pharmacology, and Medical Terminology. I currently teach the Medical Terminology, Health Science 1/2 and Health Science 3/Clinical classes. The seniors also learn clinical medical assisting and will sit for their National Health Science Consortium Exam in addition to the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Exam at the end of their senior year.

I am also the HOSA Future Health Professionals Advisor. As an Advisor, I coordinate our chapter involvement in the State Fall Leadership Conference and State Leadership Conference Competition. Over the past 6 years, students have qualified International Leadership Conference and one student has been the State Reporter/Historian.

My involvement in Health Science Education extends to the SC Health Science Educators Association, where I have the honor of serving as President for the 2022-2023 school year. I am the current SC Health Science Educators Community Service Award Winner, the 2020 SC Career and Technology Teacher Educator of the year, a finalist for the 2020 Goodheart-Wilcox Outstanding Teacher Award, and the 2019 SC Health Science Educators Association Teacher Educator of the Year. I also serve as the President-Elect for the National Health Science Educators Association. None of this would have been possible if not for the amazing students and administration at SHHS. I have high expectations of my students as I help them reach their goals within healthcare education.
