ARTICLE I: MEETINGS
This chapter of the National junior Beta club will hold its meetings on the first and third Friday of each month at 7:30 am in room A218.
ARTICLE II: QUORUM
A quorum of this organization shall be constituted by a majority of the membership. No action may be taken which is binding upon the membership unless a quorum is present. Discussions about taking in new members, the presentation of a program, etc.—may be carried on at a meeting without a quorum being present.
ARTICLE III: STANDARDS OF MEMBERSHIP
Standards of membership for the CMS NJBC must conform to the general requirements created by the National Beta Club Constitution and the CMS National Jr. Beta Club Constitution and Bylaws. To determine the eligibility of 7th grade students, student names will be pulled from the A/B honor roll list at the end of 1st semester.
All students must be performing at or above grade level in order to be eligible for membership. The academic requirement for membership in the National Junior Beta club is qualifying for the A/B honor roll each quarter.
Commendable attitude, worthy character, good mentality and creditable achievements will also be considered.
Not receive OSS (Out of School Suspension)
Be committed to serving and helping others in the school and community.
Only 8th grade students will be eligible to run for elected offices within Beta Club.
A member of this Chapter of the National Junior Beta Club will be placed on probation if student falls off the A/B honor roll. Students will remain inactive until the next quarter. Students may only receive one academic probation per year.
ARTICLE IV: INDUCTION OF MEMBERS
Members shall be inducted into the Chapin Middle School's Chapter of the National Junior Beta Club in a formal manner. The induction will be one of suitability of national standards.
ARTICLE V: LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP
After missing one meeting without notifying the club sponsor the student will receive a written warning. A member will be placed on probation from NJBC if he/she misses more than 1 meetings per semester without approval of the club sponsor.
Members must attend at least 5 meetings per semester (10 per year) in order to maintain membership. Student must complete the absence Google Form if they are going to miss a meeting.
A member of this chapter of the National Junior Beta Club will be dropped from membership if his/her grades are not maintained or rectified within the specified quarter.
Student must qualify each quarter for the A/B honor roll. Student may be allowed one probation each school year. Student will have one quarter to raise grades back up to A/B honor roll status.
A member will be dropped from this chapter if appropriate behavior is not maintained or rectified within the specified time period as specified in Article V.
Immediate removal from the Beta Club is at the sole discretion of the administrative team. (Principal Huckabee, Mrs. Berry, Mrs. Hamilton, or Mr. Williams)
ARTICLE Vl: PROBATION
Any member on probation cannot participate in any National Junior Beta Club activities. This includes the monthly meetings and any mini and major projects done as a club. Students may still work towards their individual community service requirements.
ARTICLE VII: NATIONAL AND LOCAL DUES
The dues for this chapter of the National Junior Beta Club is a one-time fee of $24 payable at time of membership. Dues will be paid online. When dues are paid the student can begin attending meetings and working on his/her service hours.
ARTICLE VIII: SERVICE PROJECTS
The NJBC members will vote on community service mini projects for the year.
The CMS chapter of the National Junior Beta Club will sponsor 2 major service projects a year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring, in addition to the mini projects throughout the year.
All members are expected to participate in the mini & major projects. If a member is unable to attend the major service projects, they must complete another project from the list provided by the sponsor in an allotted time period.
8th grade members are required to earn 10 community service hours per academic school year. 7th grade members are required to earn 5 community service hours after they are admitted in January.
Each member must turn in a minimum of five of their required community service hours by December 19, 2025. The remaining hours must be completed by May 1st 2026.
The 2 major projects and school based mini-projects done as a group cannot count towards the members individual community service hours.
Students cannot count service hours completed before dues were paid or before the start of CMS Beta Club for the 25-26 school year. All hours must be signed for and uploaded to the Service Hours Google Form.
No more than 4 hours can be devoted to a personal affiliation (if the student is affiliated with a religious organization such as church). The other hours must be given towards the community.
ARTICLE lX: AMENDING THE BYLAWS
The bylaws of this National Junior Beta club may be amended by a majority vote of the membership, provided such proposed amendment is placed before the club at a previous meeting.
