6th Grade Orchestra

Welcome to 6th Grade Orchestra!

6th Grade Orchestra is open to any middle school student that has at least two years of playing a string instrument (violin, viola, cello or bass). 6th grade orchestra is the first opportunity for all Lexington Public School students to play together in middle school. We focus on beginner orchestra skills, note reading, intonation, and theory.

Don't worry, there a lot of fun thrown in there too :)

Information for Families

Please make sure to bring your instrument, music and a pencil to class every day that we have rehearsal! Everything is outlined in our Orchestra Handbook!

This is the first year that many students have had an ensemble experience and I am so excited to be sharing it with them! Please see the handbook for concert dates!

Each student is required to bring the following to every orchestra class:

When a student forgets their materials for class, they are asked to fill out a form at the front of the class. Multiple "I forgot my ________" will result in an email home and may impact their grade in the class.

Rehearsal Information

Clarke - Orchestra Meets on days 2, 4 and 6 during D Block.

Diamond - Orchestra meets on days 1, 3 and 5 during D Block.

Please make sure to have your instrument! We do not give out loaner instruments to students who forget their instrument for class. They are still expected to come and to participate. If a student forgets their instrument on a regular basis, an email will be sent home and it will be reflected in their orchestra grade for the trimester.

We do NOT have rehearsal when there is no school (observed holidays).

**During MCAS and half days, we will still have rehearsal if the period is put into that day's schedule!**

Still have questions?? Please send me an email
