How can parents and families get involved?

There are lots of ways for parents and families to stay updated and be involved in the teaching and learning!

  • School leaders will continue to send out their weekly or monthly newsletters with news and updates.

  • School leaders will also continue to hold virtual events on different topics for parents/caregivers (e.g. monthly virtual coffees )

  • Families will have multiple opportunities throughout the fall to offer input to their school and the district (look out for opportunities to complete LPS surveys and participate in Superintendent Chats and other school lead parent/caregiver discussions).

  • Educators will explore incorporation of real-world experts and mentors for independent study projects. This could include parents/caregivers and other Lexington community members.

  • Families can provide opportunities through their companies or organizations for virtual internships, shorter-term projects that could be student-led, or community service projects for students.

  • Parents and family members can serve as virtual Lunch Club volunteers and host a social virtual lunch group for RLA students or Hybrid students in their remote week.

  • Parents/caregivers can also join their school's Parent-Teacher Association/Organization (PTO/A) and/or participate in sponsored events.

  • For RLA families, participants and their families may engage in safe social-distanced meetups. Depending on the COVID-19 context we are in throughout the year, there may be opportunities to provide optional, outdoors, distanced, small group, masks-on meetups for students. If the opportunity arises, parent volunteers would be needed to help plan and execute safe meetups for students.
