Building planning habits into your everyday routine - BEFORE checking email, texts or social media, check the daily calendar or daily to-do-list to get an idea of the day’s events
Schedule a weekly organization time to check your calendar, including timelines and dates or due dates for long term projects, exams, and social events
Create an end-of-the-day checklist to ensure that you have all of the materials you will need for homework
Prepare for "tomorrow" the night before - pick out your clothes, pack your backpack, gather your sports equipment, etc...
Use Google Keep to make checklists and daily habit reminders
Create a mini to-do-list for the large project so that you ensure you complete all components
Create mini-due-dates for individual components of assignments and add these due-dates to your calendar
Use a To Do List template in Google Sheets (watch video)
Use a planning sheet to breakdown a large assignment into smaller chunks:
Teachers - Help students breakdown large assignment and create mini-due-dates
Make end-of-the-day notes so that you remember where you left off the next time that you work on the project
If you're working with a group:
Share notes on google keep with your group to keep track of progress
Try the Momentum extension. It creates a custom “new tab” page (in Chrome) for you to help you set goals and remind you about what you’re working on
Use the checklist in Google Keep to list tasks, then check off tasks as they are completed. Completed tasks to the bottom of the list with a line through it, so you keep track of what has been done
Use the "Reminders" feature on your phone for follow up - for example, ask your phone to "Remind me to check-in with Mr. Hughes tomorrow morning about the history project requirements".
Schedule your morning before you leave the house (ie. wake up at 6:00, shower at 6:15, breakfast at 6:30, leave the house at 7:00)
Set timers to correspond with your schedule to keep yourself on track
Use alerts on your phone as alarms to schedule tasks (print out paper for class at 7AM)
