About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Serena Mathies. I am married to my husband Doug and together we have 5 children. I have three daughters and he has two sons and so we are a blended family. We live a very busy lifestyle and enjoy life together doing all the things such as fishing, camping, traveling, and riding together. I love to travel and spend time with my family. I love to ride my motorcycle and enjoy being outside in nature as much as I can. I am currently a Blended Head Start teacher for Crandall ISD. I love to learn and grow my knowledge in best practices in early childhood education in order to be the best educator I can be for my students. I am working on my master's in early childhood education which I plan to use to in my future as an Education Consultant for the Head Start program through region 10. 

Resume:

Here is my resume that I created while playing around with some different technology tools. This is a template on google cites which I found super easy to edit and make my own. I feel like sometimes we try to put too much information in a resume and that it should be simple and to the point. This design was a little much for me so I took it and edited it using different colors and fonts to make it my own. I altered a lot of the original design which is why I feel like this is still my artifact.

Family Pictures:

Here is a photo page that I created of my girls using the Canva tech tool. I have loved working and playing around with Canva and am already implementing into my classroom by creating student picture posters to send home with parents at the end of the year. I think families are going to love it as a end of the school year gift from me showing how their child has grown over the school year. Canva is really easy to use and you can create anything from photo collages, posters, worksheets, newsletters, menus, to simple letter designs. I like that it gives you templates, but it also gives you blank pages for you to truly create which is what I have done here.
