We are nearly at the end of Year 4! I honestly can't believe that the year is almost over. As usual, we have had an extremely busy couple of weeks and produced lots of lovely learning. For this newsletter, I am going to focus on the amazing Arts Celebrations that have been happening in school and beyond. Year 4 has been at the centre of it all, from the Fairfield Hall Music Concert with our violinists, to Create Day and our West Ashtead Arts Week celebrations - we have been very visible and fully engaged.
Thank you to everyone who made it to the Fairfield Halls concert. It was my first time there and the atmosphere was electric! They children did themselves proud. It was a long day but the end result was a fabulous concert and massed choir event in a beautiful setting. It was a fantastic experience for the children to play and sing in a professional theatre environment. Thank you to parents and grandparents who came to watch and to deliver children home from Croydon.
More recently, Year 4 took part in Create Day, led by the Royal Opera and Ballet, in a live event with thousands of other school children from around the country. We had practised our dance movements and song beforehand, and created our own Box of Hope prop to use in the performance. The day was exciting and joyful - and I was so proud of how every child joined in.
This week has also seen the LEO Arts Week, and specifically the West Ashtead Arts Exhibition (including Rocksteady performance). Wow! What a gathering of talent and energy! After a brilliant Rocksteady performance, the school hall welcomed a large number of parents, grandparents and younger siblings to view our visual artworks, as well as to try out some of our musical offerings and listen to some recorded poetry performances. The Year 4 section of the exhibition included our photos and video of Create Day, as well as our sketchbooks and final pieces from our Nest Sculpture lessons. We also showed off our violin talents (thank you Sophie and Francesca!) and had a lot of eager children wanting to try out the instruments. It has been a great way to bring the term to a close.
If I do not see some of you before next Friday, have a fantastic summer. It has been a pleasure to teach your children this year and I hope that they will come and say hello to me even when they are very grown up Year 5s.
Have a lovely weekend!
We have completed the MTC! Well done everyone and well done parents for all of your support throughout the year. Children's individual results are on their school reports.
Homework for this term continues to be Century for Maths each week and a topic homework. Please ensure that the Century homework is completed as this supports the learning we have done in class.
Thank you for all of the Rainforest topic homework that has been handed in. Feedback will be given on Google Classroom.
