Although it is the end of term we have still been busy in Swans class.
We have been finishing off our learning around castles the past few weeks by designing our very own castles in DT. We made sure we included some of the features of a castle such as drawbridges and battlements and followed a specific design specification. We look for ward to making them next week!
We also completed our financial literacy unit with the children thinking about earning and spending and what they would like to do with their money. This may come in handy on those day trips over the summer!
We also had a lovely tea party to round off all of our learning from Summer term. The children have really loved learning about monarchs, knights and castles and it has been lovely seeing them all so engaged with the topic. They had a great time decorating biscuits with some beautiful royal designs. The costumes the children wore were incredible and thank-you again for all of your support and coming along to celebrate another great year for the children.
Mrs Rymill will continue to be in school 4 days a week with Mrs Courthold working with Year 2 on a Friday.
We have now transitioned onto TTRS in Year 2. Children should be using this to develop their fluency in their 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
All children should be aiming to read for at least 10 minutes per day. Do record this in their reading diary as they are monitored.
Each week your child will bring home a printed list of words to practise spelling at home.
At this point in the year there will not be handwriting homework. In Year 2 we are beginning to join up our handwriting and writing in cursive. You may choose to help your child practise this at home.
